The fourth Tom Holland Spider-Man film is in full pre-production swing (no pun intended) and there has been recent news that someone new has joined the cast of the upcoming film.

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has reportedly been cast in the upcoming MCU/Sony film in an undisclosed role and while many people have speculated that the character could be Jean Grey from the X-Men universe, I think there are plenty of women in Peter Parker’s life that Sink could play in the upcoming film. Here are some personal ideas of who Sadie Sink could be playing in the fourth Spider-Man movie.
Felicia Hardy aka The Black Cat
Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 in July of 1979, Felicia Hardy was the creation of Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum who were looking for a female foil for the wall crawler. Black Cat is a master thief and combatant who can manipulate probability fields causing bad luck to those in her way. Hardy’s relationship with both Peter Parker and Spider-Man has been complicated over the years with the character being an enemy of the hero, but also falling in love with him at times. A relationship that becomes more complicated because she isn’t as impressed with the man behind the mask.

Black Cat’s introduction in the MCU Spider-Verse could lead to some interesting interpersonal conflict with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as he tries to live his new life as Spider-Man while also dealing with his feelings for Zendaya’s Michelle (MJ) Jones.
Gwen Stacy
Peter Parker’s romantic life has taken some dark and often tragic turns and in the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home’s heroic sacrifice, Peter has been dealing with a lot alone. Unwilling to burden MJ with a past she doesn’t remember, Peter might find understanding in a friend like Gwen Stacy. Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #31 by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in December 1965, Gwen Stacy’s life and ultimate death has served as a significant catalyst for everything Peter has done as Spider-Man since the death of Uncle Ben.

I know bringing her into the film as a romantic interest for Peter could be tricky because the Peter/MJ dynamic is one of the things that always worked for audiences and the death of Gwen Stacy has been shown before, but this multiverse version of Gwen could have a completely different dynamic with Peter that differentiates her from previous versions. Also, if we’re being honest, making her a love interest with the Tom/Zendaya of it all could create the only circumstance in which the audience actually rooted for the death of Gwen Stacy.
Spider-Woman aka Charlotte Witter

The granddaughter of Madame Web was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man in May 1999 and set up as a villain of both Spider-Man and the other characters who wore the mantle of Spider-Woman. Altered to be able to absorb spider powers, Charlotte was sent on a mission to destroy Spider-Man. This would be an interesting addition and a unique for for Peter to take on after facing all of the previous Spider-Man enemies across his first three films. It could also serve as a slim (incredibly slim) bridge to the Sony spider-verse and the Madame Web movie.
Mary Jane Watson
As soon as I hear the news that Sink was in talks to join the next Spider-Man film, my immediate thoughts on the redheaded actress were of Mary Jane Watson. The Tom Holland/MCU Spider-Man universe has an MJ in Zendaya’s Michelle Jones, but introducing an actual Mary Jane Watson could create some interesting complications for Peter as he tries to reconnect with his MJ in a world where no one knows who Peter Parker is. Her presence could not only craft great interpersonal drama and conflict, but it could also be a great way to introduce the villain of the film as a possible puppet master trying to both get close to and manipulate Spider-Man for his own ends.

Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark was the de facto mentor to Peter Parker in that universe. Using an ‘MJ’ from another universe to manipulate Peter Parker could be the perfect way for Downey’s Doom to introduce himself to that universe and its Spider-Man.
So those are just some of my thoughts. What do you think? Who do you think Sadie Sink might be playing in the upcoming Spider-Man 4? Let me know in the comments.
